A tribe holds special meaning to those who understand the importance of having a sense of community, a sense of belonging, and a sense of tradition. When Majeda Kassir Bisharat, Creative Director of MY Event Design, was approached by a couple to plan their pre-wedding party, she was thrilled to be presented with a tribal inspired concept and modern bohemian theme.
“The story of JuMu talks about the African tribe with a twist of some bohemian flair,” says Majeda, describing the idea behind her colorful masterpiece of an event. “A large neon sign welcomed guests to the JuMu tribe!
As guests walked through a wild and exotic pathway, they saw that it was paved with continuous tee pee sculptures that served as basis for the bold floral arrangements. Fire torches were lit to allow for the utmost sensory experience as guests made their way on colorful vintage rugs that reflected a native African tribal print in black, white, and vintage orange.”
Upon first glance of what laid beyond the pathway, guests were simply awestruck by the amount of detail that went into creating this tribal inspired party. A transparent structure hovered above the dining tables, illuminated by bamboo ceiling shades.
Vividly colored floral arrangements of fresh and dried flowers cascaded over the tabletops, and a rainbow of dangling wool threads added an artful touch. Centerpieces consisted of spray painted wheat and dried flowers, and candlelight cast a glow through stained tribal candleholders.
A separate section of this tribal inspired party housed another large copper tee pee tent (which was decorated with wild leaves and red roses), with geometric lights hanging over the bridal lounge area. This section was surrounded by handwoven baskets of different shapes and sizes filled with Pampas grass, wild branches, wheat, and dried and preserved flowers – a design feature that doubled as a photo booth for the guests.
To complete the tribal ambiance, a tribal printed dance floor served as the most popular spot at the party. Guests were dancing and celebrating the happy couple while enjoying the backdrop of several LED screens, which showcased sharp tribal visual content to further enhance their full sensory experience.
