We took a journey back in time at The Mount in the Berkshires, as this venue was once home to lavish dinners and parties for affluent family and friends of Edith Wharton.
The venue boasts two perfectly landscaped gardens, each bringing the feeling of being in different parts of the world – one is set as a sunken Italian garden in which they are separated by pleached Linden trees, and the other a French flower garden. The intimacy that these two spaces provide was intentional, as Ms. Wharton wanted each garden to feel like an outdoor room.
A century later, the beauty of these outdoor spaces still holds to be true; and our goal was share our appreciation for these immaculate "outdoor rooms" while also highlighting our personal creativity as wedding professionals of the modern times. The Mount exudes the undeniable beauty of "what was" and emanates "how grand it still is."
As a multicultural wedding specialist, it was imperative to bring a multicultural couple (models) to this space, as many of my couples never consider The Berkshires as a primary location to host their wedding day until I present it to them. With micro weddings on the rise, we also saw fit to display what a multicultural micro wedding could be at Edith Wharton's "The Mount."
The dresses chosen for the models were strategically chosen by Designer Loft, as they blend classic bridal with modern detail elements. The makeup was flawlessly provided by Brides by Melanie B. which speaks for itself in the photographs. It was only suitable for the Queen of the Shoot, model Brooklyn Summers, to don a crown and jewels from Bridal Styles Boutique as she made her way around this romantic property from a bygone era. Creationari provided the sultry robes seen on Brooklyn inside the estate. The photograph of Brooklyn's dress on the mannequin was one of the first ideas that came into my mind upon my initial visit at The Mount – Andy's Dress Form and Designer Yumi Katsura assisted in making that window photograph a reality. Model, Jarred Harper, charmed his way into our hearts in a custom tuxedo white jacket tuxedo from Abe's Tuxedos in NYC.
Wedding planning and design company, A. Merisier Events, worked relentlessly with florist, Cape Lily, to ensure the colors of the garden complemented the tabletop décor and floral colors. This was especially important in choosing that shade of green in the textured canvas linen from The Finishing Touch Linens. All rentals were provided by Classical Tents; the stunning hand painted cake from Mamie Brougitte Cakes; and the metallic accented stationary from Red Bliss Design.
