Jennifer and Zev met through mutual friends in the Hamptons. The first impressions could have gone better. “He sort of cut me off and ignored me in the middle of my asking him a question.”
But Zev laughs and says it was all part of the plan.
The plan seems to have worked. After that meeting in the Hamptons, Zev and Jen became friends. Two years later, they were dating, and one year after that, Zev was ready to ask the big question.
JENNIFER KNEW A PROPOSAL WAS COMING, BUT NOT WHEN!
Jennifer knew a proposal was coming, but not when! Zev had asked her father for permission months before, so it could be any day. That day, Zev decided, would be Jennifer’s birthday. The couple planned to celebrate Jen’s birthday with a small cocktail party at the James Hotel.
Her first sign that something was up was when Zev asked her to arrive earlier than the other guests. When she saw him waiting outside the hotel for her, her suspicion intensified. The two went up to their hotel room, and inside flowers and champagne were waiting.
Zev proposed a toast to Jennifer’s birthday, but couldn’t fully get the words out of his mouth. Overcome with emotion, he dropped the birthday pretense, went down on both knees, and proposed marriage instead.
