    JENNI NEWCOMB & JOSH COBA

October 26, 2013 in St. Barths

Jenni was the Maid of Honor at a wedding I did a few years ago. She was adorable, spunky, sophisticated and had just ended a relationship.  When she called me to do her wedding, I was thrilled on so many levels and knew that she had met her Prince Charming…enter Josh!

Since there was never anything “usual” about Jenni, I knew that her wedding was going to be cutting edge and out of the box.  I was so right as we began planning an incredible St. Barthes wedding. Oh yes, in a 3 month time window!

If you have never been to St. Barthes, the island is made of steep hills that are built on lava rock, with very narrow roads. Navigating is extremely challenging as is walking.  It is a tiny place, very charming and very controlled.  We were the outsiders that invaded the space, ready to create a wedding beyond anything locals had ever seen.

“THE LOVE BETWEEN JENNI & JOSH PROVIDED THE WILL TO MAKE IT ALL HAPPEN”

This was a destination event that would begin on Thursday evening with a casual welcome dinner complete with fire throwers at Tom’s Beach, an elegant Friday evening rehearsal dinner at Isle de France culminating with the Saturday evening reception at The Eden Roc Hotel where we would transform the Sand Bar restaurant into the most glamorous upscale wedding the island has ever seen.

Five crystal chandeliers hung over the special tables that were transported to the location. Elegant chandelle chairs were used for seating. Specialty lighting  and gobs projected monograms onto the sand which also served as the dance floor.  Oh, and of course, what dance floor is complete without lounges?

The banquets were adorned with custom silk monogrammed pillows, champagne bottles were trimmed with crystal necklaces, napkins had pearl and crystal bracelets, all for the guests' delight.  Every detail had to be carefully thought out as the container that would be shipped to the island had to leave weeks before the event.  Time was echoing loudly in our heads to an island beat.

The wedding weekend finally arrived along with the threat of storms.  Flowers had to be transported by boat from the nearest airport because the small planes couldn’t fly.  Some of the guests were stuck at airports for hours until we were able to send private means to get them.  The Chuppah was built despite the strong winds but we had to sacrifice the chandelier and  eliminate it.

The challenge was immense but the love between Jenni & Josh provided the will to make it all happen. As magical as their love, the skies magically cleared, the winds shifted and we pulled off the most beautiful wedding that the island had ever seen!
