    DANIELLE LEBORG AND DAVID DESHE

January 16, 2016 in Fisher Island, Florida

“We shared our first kiss that night,” she recalls, “and we’ve been together ever since.” It wasn’t easy at first. Though determinedto carry on with their relationship long distance, Danielle left Oslo six months later to join David in the United States. “I left my family, my friends—my life,” she says of her decision. “All for love.”

Another six months passed, then David made his move toward marriage. While vacationing in the Florida Keys, Danielle noticed definite clues of his intentions one evening at dinner. The mystery was ultimately revealed on the label of a bottle of wine delivered to their table.

“WE WANTED OUR WEDDING TO BE A REFLECTION OF OUR LOVE, NOT JUST A BIG PARTY.”

David knelt by her side with a ring in his hand. “I don’t handle surprises very well, even when I know what’s coming,” she laughs. “I was so shocked, he later repeated his proposal so I would remember it.” Within a few months, wedding plans were coming together.

Being a couple with diverse backgrounds, the bride notes that compromise was key. Norwegian weddings are traditionally intimate events but with David’s large family and a social circle that spanned the world, a sizable celebration could certainly be a possibility.

The couple believe they happily landed somewhere in between. “We wanted our wedding to be a reflection of our love, not just a big party,” she says. “We wanted classic, simple elegance.” Chosen for its European-inspired luxury, Fisher Island Club, a boutique resort just a short ferry ride away from South Beach, served as the venue for the traditional Jewish ceremony.

It was cool and clear that evening, just after sunset, when the bride made her appearance on the South Terrace among 230 of their family and friends. As David waited for her under the chuppah, Danielle admits she was anxious. But, the look on his face brought her back to the moment at hand. “He looked so emotional,” she says, “so touched.”A grand reception tent welcomed guests after vows were complete. Though void of any “bling,” per Danielle’s request, hues of white and blush illuminated the site in a mix of vintage accents and modern touches for the couple’s seated dinner and subsequent dance.

Later, in the adjacent ballroom, a confetti drop kicked off the after party. The couple and their guests celebrated late into the night.

“Everything went off without a hitch and we couldn’t be happier,” says Danielle. “As a couple that started out on two continents, we look forward to sharing the everyday life together.”
David and Danielle are planning a honeymoon to Moorea and Bora Bora, Tahiti in July.
