    Burckel Gervais & Gregory Deichmann

January 6, 2023 in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

Burckel Gervais and Gregory Deichmann first met in 2016 at the Red Eye Bar and Grill in New Orleans. Within a month, they were officially a couple; and almost six years later, they got married.

    Engagement and Wedding Planning

With Greg being a professional MLB player for the Oakland Athletics, he and Burckel travel year round but spend most of their off-season in Arizona. On March 31, 2022, Greg proposed to her at Different Point of View – a restaurant with an incredible view of Arizona, surrounded by dozens of rose petals.

    “Til death do party.”

Burckel is a very hands-on person who pays close attention to detail, so trusting others to help in planning the wedding was a challenge for her. However, the BTS team was incredible to work with the weekend of their wedding, setting up on time and without any hiccups or worries. By the time the big day arrived, the only thing the bride and groom had to do was enjoy themselves.

    Special Bridal Party Moments

To start off her wedding day, Burckel took the time to write heartfelt letters by hand to all
the important people in her life – her mom, mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother, and
bridesmaids. Each letter conveyed the significance of these individuals in her life and how they have positively impacted her. The moment was filled with sweetness and emotion, and all the bridesmaids shared in the sentiment. Additionally, Burckel gifted her mom and mother-in-law monogrammed handkerchiefs that morning.

In addition to those sentimental bridal party moments, the bride’s makeup artist, Rose, had been a close friend since high school, doing her makeup for events such as homecomings and proms. To have her do her makeup for her wedding day was a special moment as well. Rose's energy and humor are unmatched, and she has a talent for making everyone in her chair feel and look flawless. The lady responsible for the bride’s hair was Holli Gaspard, a lifelong friend of her mother's. Holli had also done her mom's hair for her wedding 26 years ago, making it a full circle moment for both Holli and her mom.

The morning of the wedding day was filled with excitement as Burckel eagerly awaited the moment she could walk down the aisle to marry her best friend of six years. However, just before walking down the aisle, she was overcome with emotion and broke down in tears. The realization of what was about to happen and all the emotions leading up to the wedding day hit her all at once. Although she had dreamt of the pretty white dress since childhood, she realized that the most important thing was the person standing at the end of the aisle, waiting to spend the rest of his life with her.

One of the greatest highlights of the wedding was when the bride's mother walked
her down the aisle. The bride's father passed away from cancer in 2019, inspiring her to
show up for her partner every day. To honor him, all the groomsmen wore pins of his
initials on their jackets and a boutonniere was reserved for him next to the bride's mother.

A Whimsical Destination Wedding in Mexico

The ambiance of Burckel and Greg's destination wedding in Mexico was everything they had envisioned – a whimsical fairytale come to life. The twinkle tent with sheer draping, chandeliers, fireworks, and white rose flooded tables all added to the enchanting atmosphere. From the moment the guests entered, the magical aura of the evening was undeniable.

The wedding ceremony began just before sunset, with the guests looking out towards the ocean. At the end of the aisle was an acrylic huppah, adorned with beautiful white florals. The flooring and staging were all white, adding a touch of elegance to the entire setup. The center aisle had a special surprise for the groom, with the lyrics of the song that the bride would walk down to be displayed along it. It was a thoughtful touch that added to the overall sentiment of the occasion. The groom had no idea which song his bride had chosen, making it a special moment for him as well.

The entire scene was picture-perfect, with the sunset adding a magical touch to the
already stunning setup. It was a breathtaking sight that left everyone in awe, setting the
tone for the rest of the wedding festivities.

Partying at Grand Velas, Los Cabos

Since the couple’s destination wedding took place at the luxurious Grand Velas, Los Cabos, there were several details incorporated to give guests a true destination party experience. They had a cigar roller, a kissing booth, a live cellist, and a bar with a red rose suspension, all adding to the ambiance and experience of the evening. The addition of red roses during the cocktail hour was a clever way to introduce the theme of the after party, which was "til death do party".

The twinkle tent was adorned with all-white garlands of florals, white roses, baby's breath, mums, and candles, giving the wedding a timeless touch. The after party also served late night snacks, including grilled cheese, chicken tenders, fries, and sliders. The couple's wedding cake was stunning, featuring a traditional three-tier style with a cake topper of the bride and groom figures and a mini figurine of their beloved puppy.

As New Orleans natives, the couple performed a traditional Second Line, complete with
umbrellas and handkerchiefs, to showcase their guests some New Orleans culture.

    A Honeymoon in Tahiti

For their honeymoon, the newlyweds went on a full 14-day trip to Tahiti, which was
unforgettable. They flew out of LAX and had a direct 8-hour red-eye flight to Tahiti. After
taking a ferry to Moorea and staying there for five nights, they took a short flight to Bora
    Bora
for the rest of their honeymoon. The couple cherished their entire time in Tahiti,
where they enjoyed the sunrise, talked about their future, and disconnected from the
world. It was a peaceful and calm experience, and they remember every second of it.
