    Allie Chase and Lucas Follett

September 16, 2023 in Trumansburg, New York

A STORYBOOK FINGER LAKES WEDDING AT THE INN AT TAUGHANNOCK FALLS

“Kids, this is where your mom and I met,” Lucas Follett will be able to say one day as he guides their future children through the hallowed halls of Boston College. Their love story embodies the essence of a quintessential American romance. Allie Chase, an athlete on the BC softball team, and Lucas, the student manager, found their hearts entwined amidst the bustling atmosphere of college life in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts.

    A Forever Thing

Lucas found himself captivated by Allie’s sweet nature and kindness, and Allie was drawn to Lucas’s quick wit and charm. Following their graduations, Lucas pursued law school and Allie headed to business school. Together, they spent time studying and reading, steadfast in their support for one another’s careers. When they moved in together in the South End of Boston and adopted their Irish Doodle, Paisley, they knew this would be a forever thing.

Ever the meticulous planner, Allie made sure her nails were painted with a fresh coat of Essie’s “Ballet Slippers” for months-worth of weekends, convincing herself each time that Lucas would propose. In true Lucas fashion, he pulled off the proposal on the one weekend Allie never saw it coming, adding unexpected sweetness to the occasion. During a routine summer weekend at Allie’s family’s house on Owasco Lake, Lucas popped the question on the dock. With that, “forever” became official.

“Bright blues, beaming sun, and enough love to last a lifetime.”

    The Wedding Planning Process

Having worked several internships in the bridal industry during college, Allie had a detailed vision for their dream wedding. As a result, wedding planning was overall a smooth process. The couple spent many weekends of their wedding planning process traveling from Boston the Finger Lakes region of New York to find the perfect venue, pick florals, and pour over every detail for their wedding day.

All of the dreaming was well worth it when that vision manifested into reality on September 16. From the dusty blue bridesmaid dresses to the floral-patterned tablecloths, the bright, airy, timeless vision was everything Allie had dreamed of and more.

A Finger Lakes Wedding at the Inn at Taughannock Falls

Because the day had been so carefully planned down to every detail, both Allie and Lucas felt calm throughout the morning of their wedding day and were able to experience the excitement and joy of finally marrying one another after more than eight years of being together. They felt honored to be surrounded by friends and family from all parts of the country who had traveled to the heart of the Finger Lakes to celebrate with them at the Inn at Taughannock Falls.

The reception was absolutely enchanting. “Dreamy” is the word that comes to mind: Bright white florals and dusty blue details popped, surrounded by the greenery on the grounds on a perfect sunny day with Cayuga Lake in the distance. Hand painted antique furniture, repurposed by the couple, was placed throughout the reception area and cozy firepits roared outside the pristine sailcloth tent.

Special Touches and a Storybook Evening

The couple added special touches wherever they could to make the day their own, starting with sincere handwritten notes to one another that morning. The artwork on their wedding invitations was hand painted by Allie’s father. Allie’s grandmother walked down the aisle as their flower girl and inside the father of the bride’s suitcoat was lined with pictures of his daughter throughout the years. That special father-daughter bond was on full display as they surprised guests with a medley of fun songs and a choreographed father-daughter dance. Another surprise for guests: Fireworks during the reception that added the perfect romantic touch to the storybook evening.

Of course, no wedding is complete without a few moments that bring laughs to all involved. In this case, Allie’s grandmother lost her flower girl basket, which was no problem, as the best man snagged a bread basket off a nearby table to work in its place. Nobody knew the difference! Later in the evening, the dance floor was an absolute blast as Allie‘s father passed around a signature disco ball silver suitcoat he had worn in their father-daughter dance. It quickly became the “magic jacket,” and whoever wore it was the center of any dance circle.

    Honeymooning in Greece and Italy

The morning after, it was hard to believe the magic of the evening was just a memory. Allie and Lucas bid adieu to their loved ones and embarked on the trip of a lifetime. The honeymoon itself was equally magical, as the couple visited Greece and Italy, drinking wine in the Prosecco region, wandering through the winding streets of Venice, and swimming in the blue waters of the Aegean Sea. Something Lucas and Allie’s wedding and honeymoon had in common: Bright blues, beaming sun, and enough love to last a lifetime.
