    LUCIANE MOZZER & JAY

    May 25-27, 2018. Sardinia, Italy

In 2013, Luciane Mozzer and Jay were introduced through a mutual friend during a 4th of July celebration in the Hamptons. “Because it was a party, we didn't have a chance to talk to each other much until the following week, when the same friend threw me a birthday party,” explains Luciane.

“We both found each other interesting but that was about it. We carried on with our summer, separated; and that autumn, Jay and I started going out.

"27 COUNTRIES PRESENT AT THE WEDDING"

At our first dinner date I realized how amazing and caring he was about his family and – very important that night – how he treated the waiter of the restaurant. That says a lot about a man. At the end of November, we flew to Miami to spend Thanksgiving with his parents, and we never separated after that!”

Four blissful years later, the couple was enjoying a ski trip in the French Alps. As the ultimate romantic gesture, Jay arranged for their room at Hotel Les Airelles to be filled with champagne and 600 roses. A note, handwritten in Portuguese, was perfectly positioned for Luciane to find as soon as they entered the room. Although she assumed it was a welcome note from the hotel, she soon realized that a proposal was taking place – and, of course, she said yes.

On Thanksgiving weekend that same year, Luciane and Jay decided to have a small ceremony at their Long Island home with only family members present. It was a beautiful autumn day spent in the back yard. Soon after, the preparations began for a larger, epic destination wedding in Italy.

Since they would be hosting guests for a three-day wedding weekend, the couple chose Hotel Cala di Volpe in Sardinia as their venue. “Davide Pietro, a private concierge based in Geneva, found the most amazing and dreamy person to make our fairy-tale weekend come true – Vincenzo Dascanio, based in Milan,” Luciane says. “Vincenzo recommended the best wedding planner based in Florence, Savvy Event Studio. Due to our busy schedule, we left everything in their hands. We gave inputs here and there, and that was it. We had the best team ever!”

The wedding weekend kicked off with a fun-filled night of traditional Sardinian food and music. Artisans making candy, shawls, baskets, and jewellery were stationed throughout the party, and live performers kept guests thoroughly entertained. A beach party was held the next day at Hotel Cala di Volpe, complete with plenty of food, and music played by DJ Betto from Ibiza. That night, everyone gathered for a rehearsal dinner filled with touching speeches, singing sessions around the piano, and hours of laughter.

On the third day, guests gathered for a ceremony held on a sandbar of Cala de Volpe overlooking Costa Esmerelda. “Our officiant, Lisa Traina, based in NYC, made the most beautiful, funny, emotional and unforgettable ceremony,” says the bride. “She made sure to mention all the 27 countries present at the wedding.”

After the ceremony, cocktail hour was served by the pool. An eight-minute fireworks displayed signalled that it was time for dinner. Guests were in awe of the baroque-style wedding marquis, where rectangular and round tables were decorated with magnificent floral displays. A live band from Paris kept the dance floor filled throughout the evening, and the party lasted until 4:30 a.m.

The newlyweds took off on their honeymoon the next day, which was another adventure in and of itself. Three days were spent on the island of Capri, followed by some time in Montenegro and a road trip through places like Aosta Valley and the Alps.
