    JULIANA IFEGWU AND JEFFREY BURKE

June 17, 2017. East Brunswick, New Jersey

During the summer of 2015, Jeffrey Burke was meeting a girl at a bar while Juliana Ifegwu was there having a drink after a long day. Apparently, both ordered a Patron shot and the bartender ended up placing the drink between them. “We both dived for the drink and, after a few rounds of tequila and a no-show, our romance began,” states Juliana. “Jeff thought I was gorgeous, smart, and adventurous. I thought he was charming and hilarious.”

The couple had been dating for some time when they found themselves vacationing in the Bahamas. It was April 30, 2016 around 5 p.m., and the two were walking into a garden when Jeff announced he had a question.

"OUR DAY WAS PERFECT... BECAUSE I WAS MARRYING MY BEST FRIEND.” JULIANA IFEGWU

“He proceeded to get down on one knee and ask me if I would make him the happiest man on earth and be his wife, with tears in his eyes,” Juliana describes. “I’m not sure how I missed the bulge in his short pants that was the box with the ring, but I screamed ‘Yes,’ jumping up and down. It was a scene from a movie and the memory still brings smiles to my face.”

A month later, the newly-engaged pair discovered that Juliana was pregnant and knew they’d need a wedding planner to organize the details of their New Jersey wedding. After coming across K. Barner Events and meeting with Kisha Barner, the bride-to-be knew she’d do a fantastic job, as Kisha fully understood her vision and could execute it to perfection.

“My wedding day was a dream, beginning with a chef-catered breakfast,” says the bride. “K. Barner Events handled every aspect of the day, so my phone never rang – it was things like this that made all the difference in the day for us. We were married at the Park Chateau, and I loved our bridal attendants! Our day was perfect, mostly because our wedding planner was freaking awesome; and, most importantly, because I was marrying my best friend.”

Having planned for an outdoor wedding, Jeff and Kisha secretly ordered 100 extra candles to decorate the chapel in case it rained, which it did. The bride was in awe as she walked into the chapel illuminated with candles, creating an elegant ambiance teeming with regality and romance.

“There were so many special moments during the wedding but dancing the Nigerian money dance with my father as our father-daughter dance was super special for me, and I was overjoyed to pay homage to my culture,” Juliana reflects. “Our floating platinum silver cake was amazing. The décor was beyond anything I could have imagined. There was bling and white flowers and silver trim and black lace and candles and love overflowing.”

“At the end of our night,” she continues, “I could not help but have a sense of euphoria. I was married to my best friend and we had a fairytale wedding of our dreams shared with our loved ones. We honeymooned in the Maldives for two weeks in July, which resulted in our latest addition to our family due in March 2018!”
