    MEGAN COHEN & ERIC SIVIN

August 23, 2015 in Brooklyn, New York

Eric Sivin and Megan Cohen met on the beach in Fire Island, New York during the summer of 2011. With mutual friends between them, the two were introduced and soon bonded over witty banter and movie quotes.

Two years into their relationship, Megan and Eric had just returned home from a two-week European cruise, having visited several parts of Italy and France. When Megan came home from work that Friday (June 6, 2014), she was shocked to find hundreds of rose petals spread on the floor, leading from the doorway to the bedroom. There, Eric was waiting in a suit and gave the most heartwarming speech before getting down on one knee and proposing. After Megan accepted, she was further surprised to see Eric had flown her parents in from out of town, and the couple celebrated their engagement with family and friends.

“A SUMMERTIME NEW YORK CITY WEDDING”

During the wedding planning process, Eric kept a detailed excel sheet for tracking the logistics while Megan took the lead in organizing the details. The couple went to every appointment together, after work and on weekends, visiting several venues and speaking with several vendors.

Having a summertime New York City wedding in mind, they chose the Liberty Warehouse in Brooklyn as their wedding venue, as they loved its unique style and spectacular water views of the Statue of Liberty and Lower Manhattan.

The wedding décor was inspired by Megan and Eric’s vision of hosting a chic and sophisticated garden party, highlighted with black and white stripes and illuminated by candlelight. Fittingly, Megan also selected a Vera Wang wedding dress that fit her personality and made her feel like a princess. Eric, who wanted a slim “GQ look,” wore a Ralph Lauren Black Label tuxedo with a dapper shawl collar.

Wedding guests were treated to a true New York City experience, staying at a SoHo hotel and enjoying a rehearsal dinner in the West Village. On the big day, a local lobster truck parked outside of the venue during the cocktail hour and a gorgeous sunset served as the backdrop. Throughout the night, the newlyweds and their loved ones were surrounded by beautiful wedding décor, great food, and fantastic music.

For their honeymoon, the newlyweds traveled to Marbella, Spain, where they spent time swimming, laying out in the sun, eating local cuisine, and simply enjoying each other’s company.
