When bridal designers unveil their latest collections, it’s always fascinating to see how they have incorporated different inspirations within their gowns. Many designers tend to garner inspiration from concepts or time periods – recent favourites being surrealism, individuality, and personal journeys.

The 30th installment of Valmont Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week is officially in the books; and even though the fashion shows took place on a digital platform this year, designers still brought their A-game when it came to creating a new crop of wedding gowns for 2021 brides. “This is the feeling that I wanted to convey when you look at my latest collection. I wanted to take your eye on a journey of fantasy and beauty. I have draped silhouettes to give them new lightness and drama. I have worked with fabrications that are ethereal that float like mist in the air. All of my hand embellishments seem to blossom organically on each design. I hope you find these gowns as enchanting as I do.” – Ines Di Santo

As a graduate of WIZO Haifa Academy, Arava Polak designs wedding dresses for the aristocratic bride with a soft, feminine, and globally appealing aesthetic. In her collections, including “White Reflections,” Arava begins with a minimalist design and reinterprets the gown with avant-garde touches and stunning fabrics. From hand-embroidered laces to color palettes of nude and ivory, every bridal gown from the Arava Polak brand is a couture creation of the utmost quality. We asked the designer to share more about her recent White Reflections collection, which is filled with delicate details and an unmistakable air of sensuality.

GO: What is your favorite dress in the White Reflections collection and why?
A: ‘Violette’ is my favorite. I love how the 3D flowers and lace on that specific figure make it such a magical and romantic look.
GO: What did you like about designing this collection?
A: Working on this collection was very fascinating because of the many details of the dresses such as designing the little flowers, bows, patterns, appliques, fabric pleats, etc. It’s exciting every time when the sketch comes alive.
GO: Where did you draw inspiration from for this season?
A: I was inspired by the concepts of French chic along with elegant and modern.
GO: What trends are you looking forward to seeing on brides?
A: Many romantic bow ties, fabric pleats, statement sleeves and transparency plays.
GO: Do you offer custom designs?
A: We do make custom gowns, which is a one-on-one process with the bride. We focus on the bride’s wishes together with our design features and work according to the bride’s body, curves, and figure.
GO: Who and what inspires you as a designer?
A: I’m inspired by the strong, independent, and confident woman who wants to feel comfortable in what she wears and still look stunning.
